There are two things that the visitor should not miss: a coffee in "Can Moixet" (Bar Espanyol) and the authentically handmade ice cream in the kiosk of "Can Butxaca" (Helados Valls) in the square.

Enology

Mallorca, as the Mediterranean region it is, produces wine since time immemorial. All the different civilizations which have passed through these islands have brought with them their knowledge of wine making, a practice which is currently enjoying a revival.
The most modern techniques have been incorporated to ancestral traditions to produce wines of excellent quality, with various control boards for protected designation of origin. These wines have been granted the highest distinctions in trade fairs and international competitions. An excellent companion to savour with our local cuisine and a superb way of bottling the aromas and tastes of our island.

The Tramuntana Mountain Range and Nature

The Tramuntana Mountain Range and Nature

The natural area of the Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range extends over 80,000 hectares, declared in 2011 as historical and cultural World Heritage site by UNESCO. The natural landscape of this important area has been protected and conserved beyond the voracious development of tourism and has kept the most significant natural values alive, as well as numerous animal and vegetable species exclusive to the island of Mallorca.

The Tramuntana mountain range has been populated since prehistory and the cultural influences of this have enriched our legacy. Primitive villages, Roman ruins, our Arabic inheritance, shrines, castles and defence towers. But what is most fascinating is the rural landscape. The need to cultivate the land in such an extreme landscape of steep slopes led to the stone terraces which adorn the mountain side today and to ingenious irrigation systems which helped protect the olive groves, olive being the main crop of the area.

This is an ideal landscape for all kinds of outdoor activities, from leisurely mountain walks to the most extreme adventure sports. At Hotel Illa d´Or we would be happy to propose, advise and help you organise an active outdoor holiday of your choice.
